Susanna Hemphill
Susanna has trained her own dogs in four different dog sports and competed with one at the National level and two at the local level. She has trained dogs as a hobby for twenty years. Susanna has gained experience as assistant trainer in two different private obedience schools and one private agility school. She helped with training and classes as a volunteer at the Behavior and Training department of two different SPCAs for four years combined. Susanna graduated from the Canine Behavior Academy at the Marin Humane Society in 2013 and the Academy of Dog Behavior at The Humane Society of Silicon Valley in 2014, both taught by the renowned dog behavior expert Trish King.
With a background and training as a scientist, Susanna appreciates the scientific knowledge of dog behavior and learning. She frequently attends dog training seminars, the Canine Science Symposium, conferences and continued learning courses. She is a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator.
Susanna lives in the forest outside Nevada City with her husband, two sons, three dogs and other animals including many chickens.
